"I currently utilize some of the concepts learned during the boot camp, from working with PHP and integrating APIs to developing and automating workflows." - Blessing
Can we meet you?
My name is Blessing Iyobosa, a results-driven graduate of Mechanical Engineering.
What were you doing before coming to Moat Academy?
I worked as a reporting analyst.
What is the name of your current company and role?
I currently work in the Applications development Unit as a Process Automation Developer/Engineer in a Financial Institution.
What exactly do you want to achieve with the software development skills?
I want to use my software development skills to solve real-world and business problems by building digital solutions that are efficient, user-friendly, and scalable.
Why did you choose Moat Academy for Developers?
Three reasons: Track record of results, affordability and a recommendation.
Moat Academy has a track record of developers it has trained over the years with various projects being developed at the end of the 13 weeks boot camp. I needed a place that would accelerate my progress and be able to come up with result(project) that will make me utilize tech stacks.
Moat Academy is top quality/value when you compare it to the boot camp fee. These reasons made me choose Moat Academy.
How have things changed for you since gaining software development skills?
I am confident about my JavaScript skills because that was my ‘last bus-stop’ after completing HTML & CSS while trying self-learning.
The academy has a unique and structured way of teaching which makes you understand concepts easily. It helped me go beyond just understanding syntax, just being a mere programmer to actually building meaningful full stack solutions.
What was your biggest fear before coming to Moat Academy and what do you feel about it now?
Will I actually be able to come up with a project or build a working application? Not just mere programming but putting all programming concepts together to come up with a working application. How possible was it within a short period of time? That was the biggest doubt I had, but after going through the Academy’s hands-on and well-structured approach, that doubt was eradicated. I now feel more confident, especially in my ability to break down problems and build functional solutions from scratch.
How will you describe your experience in Moat Academy?
It was a challenging yet transformative experience. Transformative in the sense that I came in as one with just basic knowledge of HTML and CSS and left being a Full stack web developer. What captured my attention was the standard training facility and environment the first day I stepped in. I met well-experienced tutors who carried the class along. I must commend the tutors as it not really that easy to teach and impact knowledge. I also got to meet and work with brilliant and smart minds as well.
What have you been able to achieve with the training?
I have been able to come up with web applications built from scratch and launch my self into the tech space. Moat has set the foundation.
Can you share your experiences with us since you graduated from Moat Academy?
Thus far, it has been a nice experience. I have written some tech assessments and gone though some interviews. I currently utilize some of the concepts learnt during the boot camp from working with PHP and integrating APIs to develop and automate workflows.
What advice do you have for those coming into Moat Academy?
- Have the mindset that I am here for serious business and I must leave with a result.

- Practice, Practice, Practice what was taught in class because that is the only way you can get used to new concepts.
- Don’t stress yourself with external videos or resources during the course of the boot camp. Be active and participate in the leadership session.
