On June 29th, 2024 Moat Academy and Moscow Innovation Agency signed a partnership agreement.
The Moscow Agency of Innovations is a development institute responsible for creating a truly favourable environment for the advancement of technology in Moscow; a one-stop shop for Moscow's innovation ecosystem.
Moat Academy, a contributor to the tech ecosystem in Nigeria through the manpower we raise - we serve as a bridge between the academy and the industry by raising software developers who inculcate globally accepted best practices in software development.
Moat Academy is situated in Lagos state, a state with a population of 15million similar to Moscow. The Governor of Lagos state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu is leading a smart city project, making it a model for other states in the country.
Moscow, on the other hand has attained a smart city status.
In the summer of 2018, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced the city's smart city project. Moscow was ranked as the 9th smartest city in the world in 2020, according to the IESE Cities in Motion Index.
We believe, the partnership agreement will not just be between Moat Academy and Moscow Innovation Agency but will promote synergy and collaboration between Moscow and Nigeria as a whole.
Firstly, we wouldn’t need to reinvent the wheel, we can leverage on already proven metropolis solutions of Moscow’s innovation to accelerate our smart city’s project.
Secondly, we would be able to provide innovative solutions to both businesses and socioeconomic challenges through hackathons by leveraging on our growing tech ecosystem here in Nigeria in conjunction with Moscow innovation Agency’s community of over 30,000 IT professionals; according to the agency, there is no identified problem either by the Moscow government or businesses that has not received solution through previous hackathons.
