Why are women underrepresented in software development?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a rhetorical question. Putting the question in other words, \"with great successes recorded by women in the software development field, why is there not an influx of women in this lucrative field?<\/strong>\"<\/p>\n

Yes, women are doing well, but there are misrepresentations of the profession that keep many women out: narrations like the gender stereotype - it is a male-based role.<\/p>\n

Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer, was a woman<\/strong>. Since then, we've got women like Grace Hopper<\/strong>, a pioneer in computer programming who created the first compiler and contributed to the COBOL programming language.<\/p>\n

So, women; this is your field, own it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

In modern society we also have several women that are taking giant strides in this noble industry.<\/p>\n

Abiola is Chevening alumna and a seasoned IT specialist with over 15 years of expertise in software development, application security, and IT talent development. She graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria with a B.Sc. in Computer Science (with Economics) and Cardiff University, UK with a MSc. Information Security and Privacy. Additionally, she is researching software security patterns for her Ph.D. program.<\/p>\n

Her professional certifications include: CertNexus Cybersecure Coder, Cellebrite Certified Operator in Mobile Forensics, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and IT Service Management (ITIL).<\/p>\n

She started her professional career working as an Application Developer at Upperlink Limited. There, she created<\/a> critical applications for organizations like Babcock University, ESUT Business School, and LCCI, to name a few.<\/p>\n

Abiola has developed and patented a software product, Customer Management and Self-Service software which integrated some leading accounting software.he was mentored and trained by the global leader in Cyber Security -Symantec Corporation at their headquarters in California USA. She is passionate about impacting knowledge into others.<\/p>\n
