For Emmanuel Fajumo, a member of Moat Academy\u2019s Cohort 34 who graduated in July 2026, software development was more than an interest in technology.<\/div>\n<\/div>\nWith a background in Mathematical Science and experience building WordPress websites, he had already taken his first steps into the digital world. \n \n Emmanuel in his own words<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n <\/div>\n01 \/ ABOUT<\/strong><\/div>\nCan you tell us about yourself?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nMy name is Emmanuel Fajumo. I am a software developer with a background in Mathematical Science and a passion for technology, problem-solving, and building digital solutions that help businesses and individuals achieve their goals.<\/div>\nI am particularly interested in full-stack web development, and I enjoy turning ideas into functional, user-friendly websites and applications.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n 02 \/ BEFORE MOAT<\/strong><\/div>\nWhat were you doing before coming to Moat Academy?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nBefore coming to Moat Academy, I had just completed my NYSC programme. I had also worked on a few freelance projects, building and maintaining WordPress websites for clients.<\/div>\nHowever, I wanted to move beyond what I already knew and develop a deeper understanding of software development, particularly programming and backend technologies. That was one of the major reasons I decided to pursue formal training in software development.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n <\/div>\n03 \/ CAREER<\/strong><\/div>\nWhat is your current role, and where do you work?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nI currently work at Evaluate Media, where I serve as a Junior Web Developer.<\/div>\nMy role involves working on website development projects and contributing to the company's digital solutions. It also gives me the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I gained during my training while continuing to learn and improve as a developer.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n \n\n
\n \n \u201cI didn't just learn the how; I also learned the why.\u201d \u2014 EMMANUEL FAJUMO<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n <\/div>\n04 \/ AMBITION<\/strong><\/div>\nWhat do you hope to achieve with your software development skills?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nAt the moment, my goal is to work with a software development company where I can contribute to and grow in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable products that work and solve real problems.<\/div>\nIn the long run, I want to build software products that address real-world challenges, particularly those affecting businesses and individuals in Nigeria and beyond.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n <\/div>\n05 \/ THE CHOICE<\/strong><\/div>\nWhy did you choose Moat Academy?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nI chose Moat Academy because I wanted a more structured and practical approach to learning software development. My uncle also recommended the academy to me.<\/div>\nI was looking for an environment where I could move beyond theory, work on real projects, learn from experienced instructors, and interact with other people who were also pursuing careers in technology.<\/div>\nI also wanted to challenge myself, build a solid technical foundation, and prepare for opportunities in the software development industry.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n <\/div>\n06 \/ TRANSFORMATION<\/strong><\/div>\nHow have things changed for you since gaining software development skills?<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\nSoftware development has changed the way I approach technical problems. I have become more comfortable breaking down complex problems into smaller tasks, thinking through possible solutions, and applying best practices.<\/div>\nProfessionally, the skills I gained have also helped me take on development projects with greater confidence and pursue opportunities in the software development industry.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n\n \n
